Commemorating Good Friday

(Please refresh your page, this post has been updated)  Good Friday is a Christian holiday commemorating the crucifixion of Jesus and his death at Calvary.  Why do we call Good Friday “good,” when it is such a dark and bleak event commemorating a day of suffering and death for Jesus?  We recognize and remember his sufferings for us as  well as  celebrate his victory over death! Just like in our own lives we can recall bad times, but God made it work out for our good!  I weep as I type this, as the spirit moves me for how good the Lord is, how good he’s been to me!  “Bless the Lord Oh my soul and all that is within me,” Psalm 103:1!  God We praise you!  There’s no greater Love!!!!!!!

Good Friday is observed on the Friday before Easter Sunday.  On this day Christians commemorate the passion, or suffering, and death on the cross of Jesus Christ.  Many Christians spend Good Friday in fasting, prayer, repentance, and meditation on the agony and suffering of Christ. How great is our Lord!

Celebration of Palm Sunday & Holy Week

Welcome SCW readers and women of faith. Palm Sunday marks the beginning of Holy week!  So whatever you may be going through right now be encouraged that God will give you the victory!  This is one of the most hopeful times of the year for Christians besides Christmas due to the power of the resurrection of Christ!  So be excited about blessings to come, knowing that the same power that raised Christ from the dead is alive and at work in you!!!!!!!!  Romans 8:11, “And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of his Spirit who lives in you.”

Romans 8:28, tells us that we can have joy and peace in the midst of your troubles knowing that  “All things work together for the good of those that love the lord are called according to his purpose”. The Bible says that the rain falls on the just and the unjust alike, so there’s no escaping difficulties for any of us.  However, not only will God be with us but he’ll also give us the grace we need to handle whatever we need to.  So remember that “he is the vine and we are the branches if we abide in him we will bear much fruit, but apart from him ye can do nothing.” John 15:51.
