4th of July Independence Day Celebrating Freedom

Happy Birthday America!  It’s a bummer but Covid-19 will  have an affect on Holiday plans this year. The world has spent the previous 90 days in quarantine to try and stop the spread of the pandemic. Then we slowly try to regain our lives back. Only to have an increase in cases once again. Who ever said life was fair. We’ve got to play the hand we’ve been dealt and do the smart thing to protect ourselves and our families in hope that we can return to the quality of life we’re accustomed to.

Over the past week new cases of the virus have risen steadily.  States that have been hit the hardest include South Carolina, Florida, Texas, & California.  Many of the increases have come from people who participated in group gatherings. Young people are increasingly testing positive, with a 413% increase in cases among those ages 11 to 20 since early April.

The number of people hospitalized in South Carolina from the virus is now over 1,000 for the first time ever.  It’s really sad my heart goes out to everyone affected.  We are praying for you.  Although some states have reopened, due to the spike in cases lots of business as well as public beaches, are unfortunately are closing down for the 4th of July Holiday to stop the spread.

Here in California beaches will be closed on the 4th. Miami Florida beaches will also be closed.  State and Government officials are urging people to stay home for the 4th. Most towns and cities have canceled their fireworks displays due to the corona virus pandemic this year, but a few places will still have Fourth of July fireworks.

The states and cities that are having fireworks have authorized designated areas in which to watch the fireworks from their cars.  All towns and cities will require people coming to watch their displays to follow CDC guidelines and to practice social distancing.  At best fireworks display will be limited this year.  My husband and I will wear masks and practice social distancing Saturday night as we go to watch the firework display in our neighborhood.

We have a nice spot up on a hill that isn’t heavily trafficked.  It’s far enough away where we can still see without crowd gathering.  If the fireworks display have been canceled where you are I suggest the Macy’s 4th of July fireworks in New York on television.

It’s really an awesome show!  I watch it every year.  Nothing replaces being there in person to see the fireworks but this way you’ll be safe and still get to see the fireworks and join in on the fun that millions of others will be watching also. Saturday night 8pm check your local listings. Having said all of that in the midst of all these things my heart is still grateful to God!

I choose to focus on the good things in my life!  It’s a trap of the enemy to dwell on what you don’t have instead of thanking God for what you do have.  Philippians 4:11  As Paul said “I’ve learned whatever state I’m in there with to be content.” While the world is up when their circumstances are up and down when they are down.  As believers in Christ we can have peace in the middle of the storm! A calm and steady spirit no matter the circumstances amen!

Celebrating Father’s Day

Happy Father’s Day to Fathers around the world!  My husband and I were discussing yesterday of how Fathers are the unsung hero. As a lot of what he does is behind the scenes. In contrast to moms whose work and contributions to the family are out front. For instance the kids see Mom prepare dinner every night. Breakfast every morning. She dresses the boo boo’s. She wipes the tears. She clothes and dresses the children. Make sure clothes are clean and the family is presentable.

She makes sure all is well with the children and the husband. The Dad is usually seen by the kids as being gone a lot of the times, because he’s working he’s providing, protecting. Especially in one income households. He is keeping it all together!!! So Although he is a behind the scenes player, his contributions should never be taken lightly!

Because he is indeed the one keeping all together!  I commented how the kids may be too young to understand a father’s job. However, that’s where good moms need to step in and acknowledge the father as the one who’s committed to the well being of the family through his actions!!!!  Such as going to work everyday. Tell the kids he’s not here right now because he’s out providing for this family.  Let the kids know that when father’s day comes we really want to honor him as best we can!  So we want to thank you Fathers for your consistency, and for your Love and to God Be the Glory for Good Strong Fathers!

How will you honor your father, husband, or the men in your life who are good fathers? My husband is being honored today!  In fact his dance card has been filled the entire Father’s day weekend. The kids had a dinner for him he received some lovely gifts.  My gift was Father and son time at an indoor shooting range. Our son had been wanting his father to teach him how to shoot and I was able to make that happen for them. They wanted to go Friday night.  Of course dinner at the house today. The kids and I are blessed to have him and he’s made a huge impact on all our lives.  We are indeed lucky to have him!!

Today, loving God we pray for fathers.  For all that they do and the lives they’ve nurtured. Lord, we pray specifically for fathers and fatherhood across our land. We thank You for the men who are leading according to Your statutes and the ones that are laying their lives down for Your purposes. We pray that You will continue to use these men to lead their families and other men. We pray You will strengthen the fathers of our nation and that You will continue to empower churches, organizations, and individuals to invest in fathers and fatherhood for the sake of our children.

God, we pray for single fathers, whether they are raising their children alone or even if they are doing the best they can with the time they have. We pray for strength, protection, wisdom, and discernment to help them through whatever trials they may be facing. Thank You Lord for these men and please guard their hearts and minds in Christ Jesus, help meet all of their needs, that they may experience Your peace that
surpasses all understanding.

 

Memorial Day & Summer Holiday Travel Ban

Happy Memorial Day to all veterans! May God bless you, and the family members of those in service and to family members who have lost a loved one in service.  When our thoughts turn to summer we think of travel, fun, and getaways!  However summer travel will be different this year amidst this worldwide pandemic.

With the entire country on mandatory lock down order for more than 60 days people are understandably anxious to get back to normal life as well as anxious to move the economy forward.  My husband has been working from home and we’ve started taking short walks in the evenings, (while wearing our masks of course), for exercise as well as to stay sane, because we really have not been out much at all since the order except for essentials errands, like grocery store, doctor’s appointments etc…. So we’ve really been just as cooped up as everyone else.

However we are extremely grateful to have our health and all our blessings at this time. We always are, but right even more so.  So essentially we’re counting our blessings! As businesses slowly start to reopen with cautionary measures in place. There is hope that our collective lives will return to normal at some point soon.

However until that time comes we need to be smart and protect ourselves and families by continuing to take protective measures such as masks and being extra vigilant when in public using hand sanitizers, washing our hands, wiping down surfaces. The risks are too great to ignore safety!  So please be safe out there!

Don’t make a fatal decision over a temporary circumstance! Because this too shall pass! With all the hardships that families are facing right now it may not seem like it, But we will get through this!  I’m here to encourage you today. Circumstances don’t come to stay, they come to pass. The only thing final is death!  There’s so much life left to live, if we do the smart thing today. SCW is praying for our viewers, followers, and all tragically affected  by this.

Let’s take stock.  Rather than dwell on the negative remind yourself of God’s blessings and mercies on you.

What can we expect when traveling this Summer?

  • Health experts are still advising Americans against non essential travel during the coronavirus outbreak, and travel has plummeted. The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has reported record low numbers of travelers passing through checkpoints: in April it has seen around 100,000 a day, compared to more than 2 million daily in the same period last year. Amtrak ridership is down 95 percent.
  •  The State Department is no longer processing passports, including renewals, excepting “customers with a qualified life-or-death emergency and who need a passport for immediate international travel within 72 hours.”
  • Most major airlines are now requiring both passengers and crew members to wear masks during flights. JetBlue and Delta require face coverings for staff and customers from check-in before security until they’ve exited the plane. United, Southwest, Alaska and American are requiring passengers to wear masks only during flights. (American makes an exception for “very young passengers and those with conditions that prevent them from wearing a face covering.”  While most American national parks are mostly or partly closed, the National Park Service is beginning to open some areas gradually, with special precautions and restrictions to protect visitors, staff and local residents.

3 Travel tips during Pandemic

If you’re a couple or small family you may consider getting away by car to a remote location that isn’t heavily traveled.

Consider a road trip, just to get out, and feel a sense of normal with all the proper safety measures in check of course.  Check out the city or state on the CDC for lodging precautions.

Campers are great for isolation, quarantine, and mobility for couples or small families.

For singles if you must, travel alone. Make sure friends and family know where you are going and check in by phone or internet so that they know you’re safe.

God has blessed your future! 2 Corinthians 4:17  “For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory.”  If you knew you only had a certain amount of time left to live, how would that change things for you? What would you do differently? Just think about it. It’s in times like these that we begin to evaluate how important and precious life is. For me with my freedoms being limited it has made more grateful and ready to fully embrace each day of  normal life again when the tide turns because this too shall pass. God will restore you. Joel 2:25 “And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpillar, and the palmerworm, my great army which I sent among you.”

Reevaluating what’s Important in life and Focusing on creating the future you want

  • Determine what things you value the most about your life. Choose five of these as a starting point.
  • Decide what commitments are most important to you. Evaluate which commitments are in keeping with the five things you value the most about your life.
  • Assess the way you use your time. Most of us have a daily routine, with many fixed activities and chores. Evaluate which things are absolutely necessary and important for the five areas you identified as having the most value for your life.
  • Get rid of clutter in every area of your life. Do you really need everything you have? Give anything away you have not used in the last two years. Certainly, someone else can use what you no longer need
  • Live Life on purpose and intentionally. Make the days count.

We are praying for you. To all our viewers, followers, and everyone around the world who has been affected by this Pandemic by unemployment or illness.  Our prayer for you is that you “Recover all” 1 Samuel 30:8 The Lord answered him, Pursue, for you shall surely overtake them and without fail recover all.

Happy Mother’s Day to all our viewers.  Mother’s around the world, as well as in Heaven! We acknowledge you today as a gift from God. In the midst of this difficult time for our world, this mother’s day will be different as our outdoor social activities as well as our expectations have to be adjusted this year. However, safety and caution should be our number one goal at this time as we keep our mom’s safe so that she can continue to bring more joy to our lives.

So although you may not be able to go out and dine at a nice restaurant or socialize with girlfriends and family as you would like. Please take a moment to be grateful for God’s blessings as it could be a lot worse. Your good health is a blessing. Be good to yourself, and do what makes you feel good and by all means if you’re lucky enough to have help at home relax and let someone else take over you’ve earned it. Let the spouse and kids clean the house and cook dinner for you!  It’s your day Mom. MOMS ROCK!!

A Prayer for
Our World

God, You alone are worthy of honor, glory, and praise. With You, we can overcome every storm—including the global impact COVID-19 is having on our world.

Right now, we are asking You to:

  • Heal those who are sick and protect those who are not.
  • Give our leaders extra wisdom as they navigate this pandemic and economic uncertainty.
  • Strengthen Your global Church. Reveal to us how we can partner together to reach the needs of those around us.
  • Calm our fears. Fill us with Your hope, joy, and peace as we continue to trust in You.
  • Use this pandemic to pave the way for spiritual renewal. We want Your glory, power, and healing to be on display.

Come, Lord Jesus, come.

In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

 

Adjusting our budget in times of economic crisis is critical to our welfare as well as the welfare of our families.

So, how can you survive an economic crisis? Here are my top five tips for surviving:

1. Reduce your debt

This is critical. If you have debt, you are not in control: debt means your creditors are in control. You must take immediate steps to reduce your debt.

If you have a big mortgage payment, car payment, or credit card payment each month, and you lose your job, you will quickly fall behind, and risk losing your house and car.

If you have no debt and lose your job, your only worry will be finding another job. You won’t have to worry about making payments and losing your home and car. With no debt, you can weather this financial crisis.

2. Learn to live without credit

This is a hard one. If you are 40 years old or younger, you have most likely used credit cards your entire adult life. You have probably never paid cash for a car, and you may just assume that it’s normal to only have a 5% down payment on a new house.

Here’s a challenge for you: talk to your parents or grandparents and ask them if, when they were young, they had a credit card. They will probably tell you that no, they paid cash for everything, including cars and houses. That meant they didn’t buy a new car every three years, and they lived in a small house, but they also didn’t have any debt payments.

Living without credit means making a budget and planning what you want to buy, and then saving money to do it. It’s a drastic change for those of us who are used to buying now and paying later, but the savings in interest payments are worth it in the long run.

3. Simplify your life

Living without credit means simplifying your life. If instead of a 5% down payment on a house you will now need 25%, you will probably buy a smaller house. That’s fewer rooms to furnish and fewer things to buy, which makes your life simpler.

Review every dollar you spend every month, and ask yourself: “Do I really need that?” For example:

  • Do I need to pay for 500 cable channels that I never watch, or would basic cable do?
  • Would I be better off if I sold my house and rented? Your house might not be quite as nice, but you would have no worries about mortgage payments, property taxes, repairs and maintenance, or a crashing real estate market.
  • Do I need a new car every three years, or would an inexpensive used car get me to work just as well?
  • Alternative: do I even need a car? How much money could I save by taking public transit, walking, riding a bike, and just renting a car or taking a taxi when needed?
  • Would my employer let me work from home, either every day or a few days per week? With a high speed internet connection and a computer, could you be as productive at home? Your employer would save money on rent, and you would save transportation costs, so it may be a “win-win” for everyone.
  • Do we need to eat out four nights a week, or could we save money and eat better by preparing meals at home?
  • Do I need to visit the coffee shop twice a day, or could I make my own coffee?

I’m not suggesting we become hermits and give up our cars and houses. I’m not even saying credit is bad. What I am saying is that if we can learn to live with less, our lives will have less stress, and we will have less debt to worry about.

4. Start working on Plan B

It’s possible that your world hasn’t changed yet, but the world around you has changed, and eventually your world will change too.

What will you do if you get downsized at work, or if your hours are reduced? Can you get another car lease when your current lease expires? What would you do if you couldn’t sell your house for more than the amount owing on the mortgage? What if the economy does collapse?

While these are not pleasant things to think about, it’s important to start thinking about them and start making a “Plan B”. You need a plan for the following:

  • If you lost your job, where would you work? Always have an up to date resume ready, and always keep your ears open for other opportunities.
  • Consider starting a home-based business in your off hours. If you have a hobby that could become a business, consider making that a second source of income.
  • Consider getting a part-time job if hours are reduced at work. That way, if you do lose your primary job, at least you will still have some income.

5. Reduce your expenses

Every month there are many, many people who are going through a job loss, or a marriage break up, or even medical problems that have forced them to cut their living expenses to survive. Here’s my final tip:

Don’t wait until you have to: cut your expenses now. Use the extra cash to pay down debt, or to build up some savings.

Think about this: If you earn $2,000 per month and it costs you $2,000 per month to live, you have no margin for error. If you can reduce your expenses to $1,800 per month, you have some wiggle room; missing a day of work won’t destroy your monthly budget. Here are some easy strategies for cutting expenses:

  • Cut back to only basic service on your cable TV (you don’t watch all of those channels anyway), or unplug completely and make the switch to Netflix or CraveTV;
  • Cut the non-essentials on your home phone service;
  • Make your own coffee. Okay, I know this is a hard one, since we Americans are addicted to coffee, so try this: pull out the coffee maker you got for a wedding present, and buy a bag of ground coffee from your favorite coffee shop; then, before you go to bed at night, fill up the coffee maker. When you get up in the morning, push the button or maybe you have a fancy timer. You can now drink twice as much coffee for half the price!
  • Combine your car trips; do all of your errands at once to save on gas;
  • Consider big lifestyle changes, like moving closer to work so you can walk or take public transit.

Here’s the point: the world has changed, but you are still the boss of your own life. You can set your own destiny, so make a plan to reduce debt, use as little credit as possible, and plan for the future.

What do you do if you are already drowning in debt, and cutting expenses won’t help? Consult professional debt council.

Everyone faces financial struggles. But for single moms, it seems as if they hold a bigger financial burden and are more likely to undergo financial hardships – because in all honesty, they do.

According to figures from the U.S. Census Bureau, single moms earn a medium income of $26,000 while married couples earn a medium income of $84,000. That’s a big gap!

When you’re the sole income provider in your household and have other people depending on you to survive, it’s only natural that you may worry a little bit about your finances.

NOT BEING ABLE TO MEET BASIC LIVING EXPENSES

When you have a fixed income and a lot of responsibilities, it’s safe to say you’re not interested in splurging on non-necessities and more concerned about meeting your basic needs. To combat this worry, you can increase your income or attempt to simplify your life even more.

I know it doesn’t always sound fun, but sometimes it’s best to focus on being content with less during a temporary situation. Draw out a brand new budget that minimizes your variable expenses and consider ways that you can alter or lower fixed expenses.

  • Get a one bedroom apartment instead of a two bedroom for the time being
  • Move from a large expensive city to the suburbs where the cost of living is cheaper
  • Avoid financing anything even if it’s a necessity like a car
  • Find the lowest payment prepaid cell phone service and try it out
  • Monitor the energy consumption in your home to lower your utility bills
  • Try purchasing your family’s favorite foods in bulk, shop during sales and freeze extra food to save on groceries

Another important thing you can do is start boosting your savings rate. Having money saved up will come in handy if your expenses ever increase one month or you have to deal with an emergency. If you feel like there is nothing left to save at the end of the month after you pay all your bills and expenses, you’re probably wrong.

Instead of worrying about how you will pay for this expense or considering working less, explore some of these options:

  • You may qualify for child-care assistance: State child-care assistance programs help eligible families pay for care while working or attending school.  If you are approved, the program will pay for a portion of your child care costs each month based on your income and family size while you will be required to pay a small copay each month. Each state has its own guidelines and requirements though so it’s important to see if you qualify and utilize the assistance too.
  • Try a home daycare or hire a nanny: If you find an accredited and legitimate home daycare, it may be cheaper than taking your child to child care facility. You can even check Care.com for a trusted babysitter or nanny. This service is free for parents to use and allows them to compare providers and their rates in order to find someone who matches their requirements and budget.
  • Find a friend or family member who can babysit: Depending on your work schedule and where you live, this may or may not be a reasonable option. Back in college when I was living away from my family, I made an effort to connect with other moms in my area to make friends and develop a support system. Turns out there was a whole group for college moms and I met many other single moms who needed help just as much as I did. We carpooled and swapped babysitting services when we could to help each other and networking with others to build positive relationships is a great way to avoid costly child care prices.

WHATEVER YOU DO, DON’T EASE YOUR FINANCIAL WORRIES BY:

  • Taking out a payday loan – These loans have extremely high interest rates and it’s just not worth it especially if you can barely pay bills. Choose to do without certain things or rely on your emergency savings instead.
  • Financing items – I’ve said it before, but don’t finance anything that has a high interest rate and that you can’t pay off quickly. You will lose money this way.
  • Using credit cards – If you aren’t using credit cards strategically to earn points and rewards and paying the bill off in full each month, avoid using them because they could get you into debt.
  • Giving Up – It’s important for your mental health not to be worried and stressed out all the time but at the same time don’t give up. If you don’t qualify for financial assistance you have other options. Overcome these worries and improve how you manage your finances and things will get better. Can you think of any common financial worries

 

As we’ve all been preoccupied and distracted with the Coronavirus, I almost completely forgot Spring has Sprung! The official date was March 21st. The whole world is adjusting to this new normal and trying to navigate the best way to live our lives in spite of our circumstances and because of them. Just remember God is bigger than all our circumstances and God never sleeps or fails to stop moving forward. Genesis 8:22 “As long as the earth endures, seed time and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night will never cease.”

God is doing something new and when this over it will feel great to get outdoors and enjoy the wonder and beauty of his glory. In the month of April our thoughts turn to Easter, the Resurrection!  Looks like with the stay at home in order in effect people will not be able to assemble for Easter.

Churches all over the world have cancelled services. I saw an interview with TD Jakes recently and he talked about Worshiping and praying at home with our families. And not needing to go to a physical building to worship. The church is you!  It’s us, it shows on the outside in the way that we treat people, the way we conduct ourselves, we are to be an example to the world.

 

 

30 and Still Single?

Times have changed in last 20 yrs and dating along with it. I was there too. I was not yet married at 30. However, there’s still hope. First with God all things are possible. Struggling with singleness may be a sign to draw nearer to God. When we are looking for the mate that God has for us, very often he wants to do work on us and in us first before pairing us with someone. He wants to get you ready to receive someone into your life.

If we’re honest with ourselves we could all use a little fine tuning.   I know I did before getting married. For instance I was closed off emotionally and averse to letting someone in. Totally oblivious to the fact that I was never going to build a real connection like that. There were other issues as well, I was fiercely independent and wanted everything on my own terms.

Again, you can’t build a relationship like that.  Although I had a well meaning heart and wanted to share my life with the right person I didn’t see the mistakes I was making. Until I drew closer to God and he began to show me the things I needed to change. How did I change them? I prayed, read books, and most importantly started to do things differently.

God wants our relationship with him to be first priority, that means a grateful heart, praying, putting him first, including him in your decisions. Matthew 6:33 “Seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and all these things shall be added.”  I’m living proof, that God keeps his word!

I don’t want to make a decision without God involved lest I make a mistake. Righteousness is simply about doing things the right way in every aspect of your life. God does not expect us to be perfect. He knows our shortcomings, Jeremiah 1:5 “Before I formed you in your mother’s womb I knew you.”

He’s waiting for you to acknowledge them and come to him to fix them. Every little girl grew up reading the fairy tales and that’s what we expect. However, as grown ups perhaps we need to adjust our expectations a bit to fit into the real world.

  • There is no perfect match – You are going to be annoyed at times.  You are going to want to throw something at your significant other at some point. It’s inevitable and it’s normal. Hard to believe, but there may be things you do that annoy him too. Even more problematic, there is the belief that the “perfect match” will be the solution to all past dating issues. Arguments? No way! Not with my “perfect match!” Hello, reality is knocking and it wants to sink in. Don’t go into a relationship expecting the other person to be perfect, that’s way too much pressure to put on someone. Instead, go into a relationship understanding that the person you’re with has imperfections, but so do you.  If you look at every imperfection as a clear indication that the person you’re with can’t possibly be “the one”, good luck finding that impossible person.

 

  • Fairy tales aren’t reality Dating experts across the world have identified that flexibility is key to having a good relationship. It is also known as compromising. We’ve been programmed to believe that we all deserve a fairytale and that without taking any responsibility for the outcome, we will find our “perfect match.” When issues arise it’s easy to attribute them to the other person without looking at it from the point of standpoint of how we may have played a role. Let God give you revelation. The closer your walk with God the more  he reveals things to you that are hidden from your spiritual or natural sight.

 

  • Relationships require work – When the honeymoon phase is over the real work begins and don’t kid yourself it is work! We have to work to maintain all aspects of our lives and relationships are no different. But when you’re with the person God has for you, things have a way of working out. Romans 8:28 “All things work together for the good of those who love the lord and are called according to his purpose.” Yes there will be trials, test, difficult times, issues to work out. This is what your signing up for if you want to ultimately be married and stay married for the long haul. But it all begins with a solid relationship.

 

  •  Have a realistic view of relationships – When you make a conscious decision to love someone, (flaws & all), work through issues, and be flexible, you can find a person who becomes a match. But for everyone out there, dating person after person, looking for that one person who is perfect, you’ll never find them. Because that person doesn’t exist.

 

  • More resources than ever before, but dating seems harder – That’s because it is. With more resources online in this digital age people have an infinite number of choices.  Although it keeps things interesting, settling down may not be the priority. In fact I read that millennials are not considering marriage as being an option. Traditional values have always been challenged throughout the decades.

  • However God’s intuition is the best. – Ladies ask yourself what  do you  want? And tailor you’re dating life to reflect those needs. For instance  if what you want is to settle down and get married. You should only be dating men that have the same goals as you in the same time frame as you. If you want it within the next say 2 or 3 years and he maybe wants it 10 yrs from now, well.

  • He’s not the one. –  A woman should never try to fit where she doesn’t belong. You want a man who embraces the idea of marriage and family now, at this point in his life. A woman has a window of opportunity to create a family as far as time is concerned. If a man is thirty he has at least another 30  years!

  • You can’t wait for him. – You have to put yourself first in this instance! Relationships require love, patience, work, and realism to be successful. Let God lead the way and your season WILL come!!!!!

Reflecting on the Goodness of God in the New Year!

Count Your Blessings!  Health, family, faith, career and good friends triumph over difficulties. The good Lord is on your side!  And with God all things are possible!  There’s been a strong feeling in my spirit to focus on the POSITIVE!!!!!!!!!!  We can all find something to complain about.  However as the body of Christ which is the church let’s commit together to focus on what’s good this year and give the rest to God in prayer!  I hope that your new year’s eve was a blessed one, you had fun, unwind from work and life stresses.  Hopefully you’ll be resting comfortably on this Holiday or doing whatever makes you happy.

New Year’s resolutions anyone?  Studies have shown that by the end of the first week of the new year, resolutions are out the window for most people. However if there are positive changes that you need to make for the betterment of your future commit to making those positive changes!  Our future is created by the choices we make today. Make better choices in 2020!  Remember that God is always moving Forward and so too should we.  He is always doing a new thing Isaiah 43:19. Happy New Year ! Embracing the Newness of Life

It’s a blessing to be alive at this point in time in history! The year 2020 promises to be an amazing year.  If God has been good to you in spite of your troubles praise him right now!  It’s been an amazing year for my family, full of challenges and triumphs and God has brought us through.  I ‘m extremely humbled and grateful to God.  God never promised us that we won’t go through anything.  He promised he’d be with us when we go through it.  You’re on your way to your new normal.  Isaiah 41:10 “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen youI will help youI will uphold you with my righteous right.”  I like the New year’s holiday, who doesn’t love a brand new start?  You are a new creature in Christ!  Forgiven, loved, and under God’s protection.  2 Corinthians 5:17,  “old things are passed away; behold, all things are made new.”  New Living Translation

“Throw off your old sinful nature and your former way of life, which is corrupted by lust and deception.” Romans 6:6  Your old self is crucified with him .

What will you do differently this year?  What changes will you make for the better?  What will your new self do?  Your new self will make better choices this year!  Better Choices will produce a new outcome.  Keep pressing on sisters and brothers in Christ.  Don’t allow the enemy to corrupt the good that’s in you.

  • Concerts are a really popular choice for new year’s eve as a lot of artist tour during holidays

 

1. Plan accordingly.

If you’re going to a party or heading to a public event, make plans to arrive and leave with a group.  A lot can happen on New Year’s Eve, and you want to ensure you, your friends and family are safe. Be sure to share your plans for the night and communicate your whereabouts if plans change.

To this end, pack a charger for your phone — a portable battery one may be especially helpful if you can’t find an outlet.  Be aware of your surroundings; if you get separated from your group, you will want to know where you are, where you’re going and where you’re spending the night.

2. Mind your limits.

Alcohol is almost unavoidable on New Year’s Eve.  Even if you and your friends don’t partake, you’ll likely encounter intoxicated revelers over the course of your night.  Don’t drink too much too quickly.

3. Celebrate safely.

Champagne is a New Year’s Eve staple. But according to stats, champagne corks can reach speeds up to 50 miles per hour. (That’s enough to shatter glass.)  So don’t forget that corks should be popped away from guest or anything of value.

4.Never leave your drink unattended

While it’s important to have fun, keeping a level head and not getting injured or taken advantage of should be a primary consideration.

5 Avoid driving if possible.

Whether you’re a passenger or driver, the roads are particularly dangerous on New Year’s Eve. Help everyone stay safe by refusing to drink and drive, and don’t let anyone around you drive under the influence of alcohol or other intoxicating substances.

Christmas Blessings, Celebrating Christ, the Good Shepard

Joy to the world!  Let earth receive her king!  Merry Christmas and happy holiday season to your family from the SCW family.  Focus your hearts on the true reason for the season which is Christ our savior.  Really meditate on all he’s brought you through this year with a grateful heart and a fixed mind to keep trusting God.  Proverbs 3:5 “Trust in the lord your God with all thine heart and lean not to your own understanding, in all your ways acknowledge him and he will direct your paths.”  Time to rejoice and celebrate with family and friends.  SCW has you covered for all your Christmas holiday needs, faith, food, entertaining and decorating.  The kids will be at the house and we’ll have a  very blessed dinner and time with them.   •  While you are being blessed, Do Not Forget those less fortunate ,like the hungry, homeless, lonely, elderly, and orphaned kids, they need our support.  So shout out today to all the  organizations serving Christmas dinner.  It can be as small as, dropping off a toy at a fire station, salvation army or any organization accepting toys, helping out at a shelter, inviting a lonely person to dinner.  Remember we are blessed to be a blessing.  Matthew 7:16 “You will know them by their fruits.”  To all our followers and viewers we appreciate you, and our hope is that you continue to grow in faith.  Be encouraged, cherish the good times, learn from the difficult times.  God is with you.  From my husband and I to all of your families.  We love you, have a happy holiday season!

God has Caused us to Prosper

God has caused us to prosper in spite of difficult  circumstances.  Through all the ups and downs and stresses of life, God has made us fruitful.  Genesis 40:51 “It is because God has made me fruitful in the land of my suffering.”  In fact God often uses difficult circumstances to show us what we’re really made of and to cause us to come up higher but even more importantly for his glory.  He teaches us that in this life we will have tribulation, count on it!  But in the midst of all these things we are more than conquerors!

Romans 8:37 (NIV) says, No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.”  All these things refers to trials, whether persecutions, or famine, or death.  Against these things, Paul says, “we are more than conquerors.”  God shows us that He can bless us while we have the problem, while we have the affliction, while people are hating on us.  Doesn’t matter who likes you and who doesn’t, you don’t need everybody liking you, only the right people!  Amen!!

If God be for you he’s more than the whole world against you.  Psalm 68:19 says, “Blessed be the Lord, who daily loads us with benefits, the God of our salvation!”  And because God’s Word says so, believe that every day of your life is loaded with benefits.  Every morning, when you get up, believe that it is a day that the Lord has made, and rejoice and be glad in it.

  • Our work which causes us to prosper
  • Home and shelter
  • Family and love
  • Recreation, root word, “recreate” we recreate our spirits in activities of leisure, and allow our minds and bodies rest from the consistent pace of work.
  • God’s Grace,  2 Corinthians 12:9  “My grace is sufficient for you,”

Happy Labor Day America!  With an emphasis on Labor, America is truly a great country indeed!  One thing I can say conclusively about Americans is We Work Hard!  I read a book recently that talked about how weekends are no longer a period of rest because people are now working 7 days week.  Being more interconnected through technology it seems the office is never closed.  The constant messages and email alerts from our phones have us constantly working.  If this is the case, you’re out of balance.  Work is a blessing!  It brings fulfillment it allows us to provide for our families.  However, God meant for us to have rest!  If he didn’t he wouldn’t have implemented sleep into our body’s system.  God himself rested. Genesis 2:2-3 “And on the seventh day God ended His work which He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done.”

Enjoy the luxury of rest God intended for you to have.  You’ve earned it.  Although it’s an American holiday, you don’t have to live in America to labor and work hard!  Happy Labor day to all the Working People of the world.  Happy Labor Day to all SCW readers around the world.  We love you.

4th of July Celebration

Psalm 33:12, Blessed is the nation whose God is the lord.  Happy Birthday America!!!  Fun, food, friends, family, and fireworks!  The country’s celebration, of freedom and independence and another opportunity to thank God for our blessings.  It’s great to look forward to future blessings but it’s awesome to appreciate what we have right now at this moment in time.  Don’t let those special moments pass by without acknowledging all that the Lord has done and is doing for us.  We honor all those who serve!  Everyone have a safe and blessed holiday.

The Lord’s name is to be Praised!

Welcome Friends!  June 21st is the official start of summer!  Time for vacations, relaxation, and harvest.  The earth is in bloom.  Great is his faithfulness!  “Hold fast to your faith, and to that which is good in your life!” James 1:3  Because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. My prayer for you in this season is in Ephesians 3: 16-17 “I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you are rooted and established in love.”  It is my pleasure to speak life to you and uplift you!  The Best is yet to come!

Celebrating Father’s Day

The importance of strong involved Fathers is undeniable.  A father is a blessing from God.  May you always honor him and let him know that you appreciate his presence in your life. Let him know what it has meant to you and how he has shaped your life.  It is a commandment from God to honor him. Ephesians 6:1-3 “Honor your father and mother which is the first commandment with a promise, so that it may be well with you, and that you may live long on the earth”.  If you’re reading this and you did not have an active father in your life like me, God has you covered as well.  Psalm 68:5 says that “God is a father to the fatherless”!  God, our passage says, is a father to the fatherless.  God has the care and concern and compassion of an adoptive parent.  He treats those who have been mistreated, those who have had no dads, as His own children, amen.  If you are reading this and haven’t been the best father, it’s not to late.  Pray and  take action to turn things around with your children.  So Rejoice always in the goodness of the Lord.  Have a blessed father’s day weekend to all.

We have a number of men followers as well that read SCW bless their hearts, and I want to give a special shout out for Fathers, You are significant!  Happy fathers day from the SCW family!!!!

To My Husband: You give our children someone to admire, respect and honor.  You are a fantastic father!  Happy fathers day to my faithful Husband. The kids and I have a great weekend planned.  It’s your weekend !!!!!

Time to unwind! Memorial Day marks the unofficial start of Summer! Mothers Day

VERSE OF THE DAY:

She’s unlike any love you will ever experience! She is God’s blessing to you. An example of God’s love in feminine form.  Isaiah 66:13,  As one whom his mother comforteth, so will I comfort you; and ye shall be comforted.” There is a name for all that a mother does.  Such as clothe, feed, house, nurse wounds, both emotional and physical, cook, clean, celebrate your successes, lift you up when you need it, facilitate your needs and your wants, forgives, corrects, provides, dries your tears, encourages, supports, chasten, and it’s called Emotional Labor!

She gives of herself continuously, lovingly, unselfishly.  All women are not cut out to be mothers.  However if God has blessed you with one be it biological or otherwise Celebrate her!!!!  Be sure to tell her what she means to you because this is the woman God has placed in your life to love you. 

Unfortunately my mom has passed but I still celebrate her on Mothers Day to this very day!

The body passes but the spirit lives on!  “Honor your father and mother so that it may be well with you, and that you may live long on the earth” Ephesians 6:1-3.  May you have a Blessed mothers Day weekend!  To all the mothers who are viewers of SCW, You are blessed, Happy Mothers Day !
