Managing Life’s Transitions

Change! It’s the one constant in life.  The way we manage change can make all the difference.  Change can be positive or negative.  Expected and unexpected.  Some positive changes are getting married, going away to college, a promotion at work, retirement.  Difficult changes include loss of a person, loss of a job, illness, etc…  Positive or negative, change will come!  It must come!  They’re called transitions.  It is the essence of life.  So how do we manage change in times of difficulty?

  • Become comfortable with change, transitions give us an opportunity to assess the direction our lives are taking.
  • Expect to feel uncomfortable during transition.  As you let go of old ways of doing things and begin to accept your new normal, it’s disorientating at first but these feelings will pass and as believers we don’t live by our feelings, we live by faith.
  • Take good care of yourself. Get plenty of rest exercise, and eat well.
  • Build your support system.  Friends and  family can be a great source emotional support, they love you and genuinely want to help.
  • Take it to God in prayer.  The bible says to, Proverbs 3:5 “Trust in the Lord your God and lean not to your own understanding.”
  • Take it one day at a time. To regain a sense of power take it one step at a time, that’s all the Lord expects of you.

God is Restoring You

God is restoring you!  The Bible says “the thief comes only to steal kill and destroy”.  God has come “that you might have life!!  And that more abundantly”. John 10:10.  The amplified bible calls it a “Rich and satisfying life”!  That sounds good to my soul!  The thief wants to destroy everything that’s good in your life!  Especially your mind!  Because that’s where your power is!  It is with the mind that we serve the lord!  There’s nothing as powerful as a changed mind.  If you can change your mind, you can make better choices, you can change your habits, change your behaviors, change your money, change your family, change your life!

Guard your mind!  Stay focused!  Keep your eyes on God.  When you make the decision to change your life God will meet you there in that place, take you by the hand, give you an experience in Him and do things for you you’ve only dreamed about.  I know because it happened to me!  God is in the restoration Business!  Joel 2:25, “I will restore to you the years”.  Are there some years you want restored?

God is restoring your years.  He is restoring your mind, your health, your relationships, your resources (money), restoring your hope, restoring your faith, and love!  Shame is from the enemy.  You need not be ashamed of what you were, your former self.  The bible says you are a new creature in Christ the former things have passed away and behold all things have become new.

Isaiah 61:7 Instead of your shame “you will receive a double portion, and instead of disgrace you will rejoice in your inheritance. And so you will inherit a double portion in your land, and everlasting joy will be yours”. Joel 2:26 “And ye shall eat in plenty and be satisfied and praise the name of the Lord your God who has dealt wondrously with you and my people shall never be ashamed.”

Be encouraged today people of God, God loves you.  My family prays for our readers, pray for us, The best is yet to come!  Be at peace!

What does the bible say about Restoration?
  • Jeremiah 30:17  For I will restore health to you, and your wounds I will …
  • Psalm 51:12  Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and uphold me with a …
  • Isaiah 61:7 Instead of your shame there shall be a double portion; instead …

God has Caused us to Prosper

God has caused us to prosper in spite of difficult  circumstances.  Through all the ups and downs and stresses of life, God has made us fruitful.  Genesis 40:51 “It is because God has made me fruitful in the land of my suffering.”  In fact God often uses difficult circumstances to show us what we’re really made of and to cause us to come up higher but even more importantly for his glory.  He teaches us that in this life we will have tribulation, count on it!  But in the midst of all these things we are more than conquerors!

Romans 8:37 (NIV) says, No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.”  All these things refers to trials, whether persecutions, or famine, or death.  Against these things, Paul says, “we are more than conquerors.”  God shows us that He can bless us while we have the problem, while we have the affliction, while people are hating on us.  Doesn’t matter who likes you and who doesn’t, you don’t need everybody liking you, only the right people!  Amen!!

If God be for you he’s more than the whole world against you.  Psalm 68:19 says, “Blessed be the Lord, who daily loads us with benefits, the God of our salvation!”  And because God’s Word says so, believe that every day of your life is loaded with benefits.  Every morning, when you get up, believe that it is a day that the Lord has made, and rejoice and be glad in it.

Daily Benefits of God

  • Good Health
  • Our work which causes us to prosper
  • Home and shelter
  • Family and love
  • Recreation, root word, “recreate” we recreate our spirits in activities of leisure, and allow our minds and bodies rest from the consistent pace of work.
  • God’s Grace,  2 Corinthians 12:9  “My grace is sufficient for you,”

Happy Labor Day America!  With an emphasis on Labor, America is truly a great country indeed!  One thing I can say conclusively about Americans is We Work Hard!  I read a book recently that talked about how weekends are no longer a period of rest because people are now working 7 days week.  Being more interconnected through technology it seems the office is never closed.  The constant messages and email alerts from our phones have us constantly working.  If this is the case, you’re out of balance.  Work is a blessing!  It brings fulfillment it allows us to provide for our families.  However, God meant for us to have rest!  If he didn’t he wouldn’t have implemented sleep into our body’s system.  God himself rested. Genesis 2:2-3 “And on the seventh day God ended His work which He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done.”

Enjoy the luxury of rest God intended for you to have.  You’ve earned it.  Although it’s an American holiday, you don’t have to live in America to labor and work hard!  Happy Labor day to all the Working People of the world.  Happy Labor Day to all SCW readers around the world.  We love you.

The Crushing Produces the Oil

Exodus 31:11 “The anointing oil also, and the fragrant incense for the holy place, they are to make them according to all that I have commanded you.” Ever wonder how oil is made? The olives are crushed to produce the oil.  It’s similar to the crushing in our lives, (the hard times) that ultimately makes us better.

James 1:3 “Because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance, let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.  If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.”

Change is hard! There may be a tendency to go back to the familiar even if it was bad for us rather than do the hard thing of pressing in and pressing on doing the work to grab hold of the new life God has ordained for you.  Don’t give up!  Don’t give in!  Don’t give out!  Be encouraged today the Best is yet to come!

The Lord will uphold you

Verse of the day:

Thought for the day:

“Humble yourself under the mighty hand of God, so that he may exalt you” 1 Peter 5:6. We don’t need to fight our own battles, the bible says the battle is not mine it belongs to the Lord and he will make things right. We need only to be still, hold on tighter to God and exercise our faith. We don’t need faith for the good times, we need it in times of trouble.  In those times know that you are not alone, God is with you.  Just know that “if God be for me he’s more than the whole world against me”, Romans 8:31!  That is a comforting thought.

I hope everyone is having a great Summer!  I have.  It’s been a time of rest, reflection preparation, and time with family.  I thank God for each day.  I don’t want to take anything for granted.  I love being a homemaker and home is my favorite place to be.  When I do my shopping I usually go outside the neighborhood.

Yesterday I got out for a bit and went shopping in my neighborhood, and discovered there are some great stores here, who knew?  I spent some time at Barnes and Nobles to see what’s new on the book scene because even with all our technological advances, I still enjoy a good book.  I had lunch enjoyed the fresh air it wasn’t super hot.

There were plenty of comfortable shaded seating areas to take a rest I sat down read my book put in my earbuds listen to some music, nice.  I’m the type of person that enjoys the simple things in life.  I hope that you too will enjoy those quiet simple moments in your life it’s in those times God will speak to you. That still, small, quiet voice of reason inside is God!  But you have to be at peace and cut out distractions to hear it.  God is not going to shout.  He is not the author of confusion or disorder but of peace,” Corinthians 14:33.  That still small voice comes to tell you to hang on there, doesn’t matter what it looks like right now, the best is yet to come!
