Ladies I want to emphasize what being a couple means, and what it should mean for a Christian Woman.  A Smart Christian woman Does not just aimlessly date without purpose with just any man who asks her out (as if).  No, a smart Christian woman wants a Godly man, the Christian man who god has for her.  Which means she only accepts date with men that are on the same page as her as far as her beliefs and values (A Christian man).  A man who has created a future for himself, is stable, and able to support a wife and family and wants to settle down.

That doesn’t mean on  the first date she tells him she wants to get married and have kids by next week!   Through conversation and getting to know someone it won’t take long at all to find out where this man’s head is at!  So you do want a man who is looking for that long-term relationship that leads to a life partnership!  So he’s either that type of man or he is  not, but in any case life is short and a smart woman doesn’t waste time with men who aren’t suitable for her ie unequally yoked!

Spring Date Night ideas 2018

Time to enjoy the outdoors with that special someone.  There’s no better time than spring to enjoy the fresh air, and the beautiful flowers in bloom.  Having fun with activities, and creating memories.  Spring is the perfect time to enjoy great dates!

10 Spring Date Night Ideas

Pack a picnic basket and blanket, find a quiet spot to picnic in the park.  My husband and I have actually packed a lunch and grilled at the picnic site.  There were grills already there.  But you could bring your own small grill.  He loves to grill steaks, and they’re delicious!

Most cities have a “painting for couples and singles studio”.  It’s an activity meant to be interactive and fun with the goal of building team work and bringing you closer together.  Who cares that you can’t paint, the point of it is to spend time.

Kill 3 birds with one stone. Go  for a hike with your sweetie.  You’ll get exercise, explore the scenery and spend time with your significant other.  It’s a great way to reconnect.

Find an outdoor concert and double date. Outdoor concerts are fun and easy to find online and best of all most are free.

Find a cozy spot and hang out at your favorite park.  Stop and smell the roses.

Dine at a restaurant that has an outdoor Patio.  Take advantage of the opportunity to dine outside.

Not just a movie, try a 3D experience! love 3D it’s my favorite type of movie.  Action films are especially enjoyable with 3D you feel like you’re part of the action,.

Get dressed to the nines and  try at new restaurant that neither of you has been to.  There’s a tendency with couples to do the tried and true things.  However trying new things brings with it it’s own excitement.

Road Trip! Gas and Go, wherever the spirit leads.  May only be an hour or two away.  The objective is to have fun.

Begin or end your evening watching a beautiful sunset.

Those of you with toddlers and newborns, I understand it may be harder for you to get out and go to the gym.  No worries!  You can tone at home!  We feel better when we feel like we’re doing something to improve ourselves, or simply doing something for ourselves.  Especially women because we are caregivers for the whole family.  For me exercising is my “me time” I prefer to do it alone, it’s what works for me.  What are you doing to care for yourself?  Get started today!

If you do have the time I strongly encourage joining the gym or an exercise class and getting out amongst other like minded people.  It will help you to feel like you’re not alone.  It might produce a healthy dose of competition.  If you see someone whom you admire, it may push you to work harder. However go at your own pace, consistency is the key!

Prosperous and Successful New Year

Verse of the day:

In American culture New Year’s resolutions are tradition.  It’s what well-meaning good folks do.  However, usually by the end of the first week of January we’ve either fallen short or given up on those resolutions leaving us feeling defeated and disillusioned.  Why must we torture ourselves this way?  Insanity is doing the same thing over and over expecting a different result.  Should we not try to better ourselves from year to year progressing forward in life?  Absolutely you should, but it’s the way you’re going about it that’s hurting you.  Essentially when we make New Year’s resolutions, we are trying to carry out those goals by relying on will power ( your power).

When instead you should be being led by the Spirit.  Because in and of ourselves we have no power!  As Christians we have to be infused with power by God to do all things.  Take myself for instance, it’s not that I’m so wonderful and so great at what I do.  No.  I give God all the credit!  It is Him that allows me to be a good Christian, a good wife, a good mother, a good student, businesswoman.  I lean on Him to do ALL things!  And you know what?  It makes things easier!  I’m only human!  I’m going to mess up, I’m going to fail sometimes, I’m going to make mistakes!  I’m not going to always get it right!  But it’s okay because in those times of not getting it right, I learn!  I learn how to readjust and make things better!  Anytime we try to do things in our own human power without taking God with us, we struggle!!!!!

Their came a point in my life where I didn’t want to struggle anymore, I wanted help, needed help figuring out this journey called Life! Matthew 11:28, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”   So I humbled myself, and ask God to come into to my heart and help me make the changes in my life that I needed to make!  Because whether you know it or not you can’t do it without him.  John 15:5 “I am the Vine you are the branches and if you remain in me and I in you , you will bear much fruit, apart from me you can do no thing!!!!”  But with Him, He will Fight for you, He will love you and protect you, He will guide you and bring you into Good success!  And I don’t mean the world’s definition of success.  I’m talking about the kind of success that the world didn’t give you and the world can’t take it away!

When God is for you no devil in hell can stop it!!!  Psalm 27:13 “Though an army encamped against me my heart shall not fear. though war rise against me in this I shall be CONFIDENT!”  He blesses those that bless you!  He will curse those that curse you!  A friend that sticketh closer than a brother.  He won’t run out on you when times get hard!  Acts 1:8  “Ye shall receive power!” and grace to  deal with whatever you need to.  The power that is for you is greater than the powers against you!  So what should you do instead of making a resolutions?  Speak power out of your mouth!  Simply say!  I can do All things through Christ which strengthens me!

Now you have changed the game because your no longer relying on yourself you’re relying on God and the holy spirit, (the helper), to come alongside of you and help you get to the place that God wold have you to be!  So you tell yourself, I can do this!  With God’s help I can do all that I need to: Get out of debt, lose weight, recover after a divorce, get healed from sickness, close relationship with family, get help for a troubled child, take care of aging parents, get through school, change careers, go into business for yourself, buy a house, strengthen your marriage, raise a child etc….  Whatever you need to do, you can do it!  Through Christ that strengthens YOU!!!!!!!!!

Verse of the day:

Mathew 14:25-27,  Shortly before dawn Jesus went out to them walking on the lake.  When the disciples saw him walking on the lake they were terrified.  It is a ghost they said, and cried out in fear.  But Jesus immediately said to them: take courage! it is I, Do not be afraid!!!!

Thanksgiving Planning Guide 2017

Happy Holidays Everyone!  Anyone who’s been following SCW knows it’s my favorite time of year.  The weather, the blessings, entertaining, the love, the cheer, and most of all family and cherished friends.   Entertaining can be so much fun but it’s a lot of work depending on the number of people you serve.   Planning and preparing for big meals decreases the stress and takes the guess-work out of the day.  When you’re armed with a plan things go a lot smoother.
Make a list, create a budget for the number of people you have and how much you want to spend.  Plan the time of day you want to have your dinner.  Let guests know when dinner will be served.  If you are cooking your turkey for instance early thanksgiving morning, remember it takes about five hours to cook which is why some opt to cook it the night before.  You do what works for you.  I’ve prepared several videos for your main dishes as well as dessert.  Refer to the videos as often as you like.  Have fun and enjoy a stress free holiday.

Verse of the day:

Check out what’s new in Christian News : “Hercules” actor Kevin Sorbos and his wife Sam Sorbos, a Christian family man has brought to the big screen “Let their be Light.”  A Christian Film in theaters now.  He has a very refreshing viewpoint.  Check out this video, for more info visit the website, “www.lettherebelightmovie.com”

Coming up in December:

Christmas holiday entertaining and decorating

Christmas gift ideas for everyone on your list

New year’s eve entertaining and safety tips

Author’s Note: The blessings of the Lord are upon us.  Thank you for your prayers and well wishes.  I will continue to pray for my beloved readers and followers that God will touch your heart and bring change in your area of need.  Joshua 1:8 “Thou shalt have good success.”  What are you thankful for?  I’m so grateful and thankful for all God has done in my life and especially in the lives of those that have been touched by SCW.  Leave a comment tell us what you’re thankful for and what your looking forward to in the new year.  It’s a busy time for me.  Those of you who’ve been following me for some time now know that I’m working on my second degree!  And I’m almost there, about 80% of the way praise GOD!  I’m preparing for exams.

Thankfully we have the Thanksgiving break coming up.  I’m looking forward to some much deserved rest and time with family.  Continue to pray for me and my family, as I will pray for you that God will give you the desires of your heart and bring you to the place He has for you on your journey.  We all have different hopes and dreams but it is God will that will succeed.  So we’re in it together!  We know that “All things work together for the good of those who love the Lord and are called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28

Weekend Read: Cultivating Good Spending Habits & Nurturing the Nurturer

The Holidays are on the way!  And it’s a great time to take control over unhealthy spending habits!  This is the time of the year when we spend the most money shopping.  Women are big shoppers anyway even without a holiday.  We shop for ourselves, we do the shopping for the household and we shop for our children and families.  It’s a blessing, to be able to shop.  That being said, what causes spending habits to be unhealthy?

Spending habits are unhealthy when it causes you to have stress and anxiety about paying your bills.  For me it kinda takes the fun out of it if I’m worried about finances.  So what can you do?  Remove the stress in your life by not overextending yourself.  This is something you can get control of with time, patience and consistency.  This season let your focus be your family and the blessings of the Lord instead of stressing about the ton of bills that the new year will bring with it.

  1. Maxing out your limit and paying the minimum on credit cards.  It costs you the most interest and lowers your credit score.  You’re almost guaranteeing yourself that you will never be out of debt.  The goal is to build credit by paying bills on time, before time and keeping the balance due down.

  2.  Shopping without a plan.  You go to the mall armed with credit cards or lots of cash, or both,  and no plan.  Just you and your money being tossed to and fro never keeping account and spending like there’s no tomorrow.  Make a list of what you intend to purchase at what store.  You know what you’re going out to buy.  Stick to the plan.

  3. Avoid last-minute purchases that make for impulsive shopping.  If it’s last-minute you don’t have time to think it through or shop for deals.  So you want to avoid impulsive shopping.

  4. There’s always another sale.  Buy now!  Shop before it’s too late.  Lies!  Don’t buy into the lie that you’ll never see a sale like this again.  Especially at holiday time.  There are store marketers who stay up nights putting together the perfect sales to get you into the store.

  • Be Smart.  Make a list monthly of what is coming in and how much has to go out.  After expenses what you have left is what you keep.  Each month will be different because of life’s unexpected incidences … a child may get sick, car repairs, etc…  Your knowledge of your situation is most important because how can you control your spending if you’re not keeping account of what you have.  Also it’s biblical to be good stewards of the resources God gives us.  If you want God to increase you, you have to do well with what you have.  Luke 16:10, Amplified Version: “Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much.”   My husband is very good at this, he’s a very good money manager.  It’s great because it’s his job as head of the house. “Listen up independent ladies”  It doesn’t matter how much money I make it does not change his “position” as head of the house.  God has placed him in leadership!  I love a man in charge!

  • Start Saving!  If you already are great!  Keep it up!  If not get started.  If you’re constantly removing and never putting anything back it will result in a deficit.  You should be saving now right up until retirement.  Checking and savings go hand in hand.  Checking account is for expenses.  Savings account is money you keep.  Start small and build.  If people in the depression can save so
    can we!
  • Make a realistic budget and live within your means.  You can’t just always spend more than you have and hope that things will work out.  Make a promise to yourself that you will no longer set yourself up for disaster.  Create a budget that has breathing room for fun.  Fun doesn’t have to mean something big and expensive.  Whether you have a family or are single there has to be some recreation.  Maybe on the weekends the family likes to go bowling for instance.  Or you’re single and you treat yourself to a movie at the mall and some window shopping.  Write the vision and make it plain, Habakkuk 2:2

Mom is an awesome resource!  She’s a resource of love, caring, understanding, and wisdom.  God created her to be a resource to her family.  In the modern world we live in, mom’s role often extends outside the home to career and community.  It’s a lot of different hats to wear and can get very tiresome trying to be all things for everyone.  At the same time it’s extremely fulfilling and rewarding for those that relish being a mom!

One of the drawbacks is that you can be so focused on others that you often neglect yourselves.  The result of that is a mom who is exhausted and resentful.  Can’t have that!  Mom’s need nurturing and caring too.  Moms must treat themselves well as a lifestyle.  There needs to be time that is set aside just for you.  Non guilty, uninterrupted time.  Location or finances is not important.  It can be time to yourself in your own home.  But you need mom downtime to regenerate, otherwise you’ll just be burned out.  We want mom happy, we want mom healthy, beautiful, and radiant!  Let’s learn the art of relaxation for Mom!

If you are able to get away to the spa at least once a month for a complete day that’s awesome, I highly recommend it.  They have various treatments and massages to relax and pamper you.  This is of course aside from your regular pedicures and manicures.  A woman has a lot of maintenance and when a woman takes care of herself it shows.

DIY home spa.  Spa atmosphere is about creating a mood to relax you.  That means peace and quiet and time for yourself for whatever block of time you allow.  If it’s just an hour or two.  It’s not relaxing if the kids are banging on the door.  So this time alone thing will take some planning but be well worth it. You can give yourself a pedicure at home with the foot spa.  They are only about $20 or $30.  I think it’s great to have a foot spa at home anyway to take care of your own feet between salon visits.

Get a facial.  Facials are great, they clean and replenish the skin removing dead cells and revealing a fresher layer of skin.

Catch up on your sleep. Sleep deprivation causes premature aging.

A mom at peace and relaxed is a better mom.

Fall Date Ideas 2017

Looking for a little fall adventure in your datesAs an alternative to the classic dinner and a movie?  I love dinner and a movie.  However, with a change of seasons comes change in activities. Active being the operative word!  Some couples enjoy active dates as do I.  Active dates are a reminder that dates are supposed to be fun!  Time to leave the worries behind and enjoy the company of someone special.  Each couple sets their pace of what is comfortable for them.  So ask questions, find out what they enjoy doing and do it together.  Laughter and fun keeps you young, and decreases stress!

Hot air balloon ride. Take your date to new heights with a balloon ride. The view of fall foliage is stunning.

Indoor Flying. I’m so excited about getting to do this, haven’t done it yet but it’s on the list.  It’s a very safe environment with trained instructors and a whole lot of fun! Soar!

Dinner cruise. Not just dinner, but dinner in motion on the water with a view.

Hiking. For all of you hiking buffs, it’s always better when you have someone to share it with. Take plenty of pictures to document your journey.  Even better make a scrapbook!

Fall County fair. County fairs are great fun, great food, and awesome rides.  Don’t forget to play a game or two and win your date a stuffed animal.

Picnic amidst  a fall backdrop  in the park. The trees have changed colors and the leaves have fallen. Get out your blanket and enjoy the fall scenery.

Get dressed to the nines and go dancing.  Shake it off!

A simple hayride through the country.  Perhaps a hayride is more your speed. Whatever the activity two is better than one.
